The scientific name of Quinoa is Chenopodium Quinoa. It has existed for 7000 years. The Incas domesticated it in the Andean Valley (around Lake Titicaca) 5000 years ago. It is also called “Chiyasa Mama” (Mother of all Grains) and is used to strengthen their soldiers and increase their stamina for long wars. While no single food can supply all the essential life sustaining nutrients, Quinoa comes as close as any other in the plant or animal kingdom.
